A division of the Burbank Police Department, the Burbank
Animal Shelter is operated by several dedicated Animal Control Officers
and Kennel Attendants.
Are you a “no kill” shelter?
The Burbank Animal Shelter, as a public operated shelter,
can not refuse to take in any animal; however we only accept animals that
originate from within the City of Burbank. Our goal is to have every adoptable
animal that we accept be adopted back out. Although our adoption rate is
nearly 100% certain animals are not adoptable
due to their aggressive behavior, severe or incurable diseases, mortal
injuries or other major afflictions. And occasionally we experience
critical housing numbers due to an unexpected influx of abandoned animals.
In these unfortunate cases we may be forced to euthanize
animals.

Supporting the shelter staff, we exercise and groom
the dogs, clean the animal cages and help socialize the cats. We assist
the staff at the front desk and help the public in choosing the right pet
for their home. We keep the corral clean and the bunnies happy and work
animal related events.
