Images & .mp3 Audio
Is there a way that a web site visitor
could SEE AN IMAGE above a QuickTime Audio Bar and
listen to an .mp3 audio file?

Not a movie.

Just a still photo with .mp3 Audio.
Here is typical .mp3 audio file in QuickTime

with no image above it:

How Do You Get An Image

above an .mp3 Audio File in QuickTime -- as in the image above?

This is a FLASH Audio file
-- made from an .mp3 audio file
-- it is mono, not stereo
I have no idea what would happen

if a web visitor had RealPlayer or MediaPlayer
installed and opened up an .mp3 with an image.

Answers

Hello:

Open the audio file in QuickTime Pro,
then open the image file in QT Pro.

QuickTime
QuickTime Pro
-- you need to pay Online for Pro $29.99
and you get a Registration Code

File
-- Open Movie In A New Player
1. TheImage.jpg
2. TheAudio.mp3

If the file is in any image format QT understands
(which is most of them)
just choose "Open" from the file menu.
"Open" in the File Menu is:
"Open Movie In NewPlayer"
-- That can be an Image file -- an Image Movie
-- That can be an Audio file -- an Audio Movie
In QT those files open as a "Movie"
Once both are open select the image "movie" and
do a "Command A" to select all.
Both means:
1. Image file -- an Image Movie
2. Audio file -- an Audio Movie
Then hit "Command C" to copy it
(if you're on Windows substitute Control for Command).

Bring your audio movie to the front
by clicking on it and go to the "Edit" menu.

From there select "Add Scaled."

Add Scaled
That is the tool that makes this happen.
That is the tool that adds the Image to the Audio.
Add Scaled -- a tool under the Edit Menu
This will add the image to the audio and
give it the same timeline as the audio — make it the same length.

Then save the new file and
you'll have one combined image and audio movie
ready to drop into your web page.

Save the audo file
Delete .mp3 and put in .mov
2. TheAudio.mp3 = TheAudio.mov
Hope that helps.

This file is a "Save Normally (Allowing Dependencies)"
I do not know how but this file is 8K
I changed the file name from .mp3 -- to -- .mov

Listen USA
This does not work on the web site.

I don't think I linked the Image to the audio properly.
Answer:

Allowing dependencies is like adding a pointer from the movie to the image. You just need to have the image as a .mov file and put it into the same (site server) directory as the audio movie = an audio.mov file. Then they should play fine.
Comments:

To get the image as a .mov file
I selected the Import Tool under the File Menu.
This is what I got:
Listen USA
Then, I selected the Image.jpg

and then selected Convert
This is what I got:
Listen USA
Then I selected that QT Player (image above)

and selected Export from the File Menu.
This is what I got:
Listen USA
The file name showed up as Flower-16.mov.

I selected the Options button. This is what I got:
Listen USA
Then I selected Settings. This is what I got:
Listen USA
I set the Quality Slide to Best.

Then I slected OK. That sent me back to:
Listen USA
Then I selected OK. That sent me back to:
Listen USA
Then I changed the file name from Flower-16.mov

to JL-Clower.mov and I navigated to another folder.
I selected Save.
Listen USA
So, then I sent these 2 files up to the site server and into the same folder.

Now the Image & Audio show up properly on the Internet.
The total QT Image & Audio file size is 48K.
Answer:

Also, if you are going to autoplay the audio, you could hide the QuickTime audio bar altogether.
Comment:

I have not figured out how to do that yet.
QT Tutorial

There is a three part QuickTime into a web page tutorial series on QuickTiming.Org. Check that out for details.

This file is called a "Make Movie Self Contained" | 380 K
I just did a coulpe of steps for this one.
It worked when I later changed the file name from .mp3 -- to -- .mov
I only sent up the Audio file to the web server,
but the Image was included -- "Make Movie Self Contained"

Can QuickTime Pro make a slide show of 2 or more images ?

Is it possible to put 2 Images or more into the same QuickTime file to make a Slide Show?

Yes, though there are better applications to do so. In QT Pro, you'd just add one slide after another using the add (not add scaled) command. Go to the end of the timeline for the image, then choose add from the edit menu. Simple, but it works.

Better is a little applications from the guys at http://totalyhip.com called Live Slide Show. It can throw together slides with sound and very nice transitions, then kick out a QuickTime movie. I wouldn't use iMovie, since you'll end up with a video file that is quite large in the end.

Another alternative is to get hold of Adobe GoLive. Its ostensibly a web design program, but it has a very nice QuickTime editor built in. Just throw down a picture track, and add the slides. It creates the transitions and such on the fly and saves out a QuickTime movie. http://golivein24.com has a good slide show tutorial for GoLive. You can download a free 30 day demo right from Adobe's site.
